On 11 May 2017, the inaugural Russia-Hong Kong Business and Legal Summit took place at HKIAC in Hong Kong. The Summit was held at a time when a number of Western states have imposed sanctions against Russia and Russia’s “pivot to Asia” policy has prompted Russian companies to look for business opportunities and funding resources in Asia. Against this background, HKIAC and the Russian Arbitration Association jointly organised the Summit and brought together thought leaders from governments, major corporations, law firms, institutions and universities to discuss business opportunities and related legal issues faced by the commercial and legal sectors in Russia and Asia. The event was attended by approximately 100 business and legal professionals.
