Despite the hoisting of Typhoon Signal No. 8, overseas and local delegates gathered yesterday to attend two major events, a half-day conference co-organised by HKIAC and ICC and the 8th Annual Asia-Pacific IP Forum, a day after the HKIAC's annual ADR in Asia Conference 2011.
HKIAC/ICC Half Day Conference – “Ensuring the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards in China” was sponsored by Fangda Partners and Freshfields. Led by a panel of experts, including Judge Shen from the Fourth Civil Division of the Supreme People’s Court, the conference reviewed landmark cases and provided insights on legal and practical issues relating to the recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards in China.
The 8th Annual Asia-Pacific IP Forum - Protecting and Enforcing Your Innovation Across the Region” was organized by Managing Intellectual Property in association with AsiaLaw and supported by the HKIAC. HKIAC Assistant Secretary-General Dennis Cai participated in a panel discussion session titled “New gTLDs – Risks and opportunities for your brand” and shared his views on topics on ICANN new gTLD programme and dispute resolution process for gTLD. Overall, the two events were successful and despite a typhoon signal 8 looming outside, participants agreed that the events were a great opportunity to share and discuss the newest developments in arbitration.
